A Border Patrol supervisor is facing two counts of capital murder in Texas after a woman he was romantically involved with and her 1-year-old child were found dead.
Ronald Anthony Burgos Aviles, who is in custody, had called 911 claiming to have found the bodies of 27-year-old Grizelda Hernandez and Dominick Alexander Hernandez near a park along the border with Mexico.
He was identified as a person of interest within an hour of Monday's 911 call, according to Laredo police spokesman Joe Baeza.
Authorities believe that Hernandez and her son were likely killed near the park, located close to the Rio Grande.

"The victims had visible signs of violence, which is now part of the official investigation," Laredo Police Department Chief Claudio Treviño Jr. said Tuesday, according to the Express-News. "Due to the sensitivity of the case and the magnitude of the ongoing investigation, we’re not going to state the exact nature of the matter of death at this time."
The 28-year-old Burgos Aviles was a nine-year veteran of the Border Patrol and had been promoted last year.
"The actions of this individual, if true, are both inexcusable and reprehensible," said Jason Owens, Border Patrol chief for the agency's Laredo sector. "No one is more sickened than we are at the thought of someone wearing this uniform committing such a heinous act."
Investigators are trying to learn more about Burgos Aviles' relationship with Hernandez, and whether anyone else was involved in the slayings.
Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz said the case "is being given extreme priority." He said it is too early to determine if prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

"It’s a very sad case for law enforcement today," Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz said during Tuesday's press conference. "We keep in mind that we’re celebrating National Crime Victims’ Rights Week ... It’s ironic that this happens during this week."
